Girls,

You got to watch part of A Time to Kill in class and now it's time to put those brains to work. Finish up the movie on your own and write a response that answers the following questions.

·      What does this movie show you about race relations in the southern states in the USA?

·      What does this movie show you about the justice system in America?

·      What does this movie make you think about the death penalty (capital punishment)?

·      Should Jake have warned the sheriff, thus preventing Samuel L. Jackson’s character from getting revenge?

·      Would you be like Jake and defend this big case?

·      Is it better to fight for what you think is right and end up hurting your family or to stop fighting and protect your family but lose those you love?

·      Had you been on the jury, how would you have voted?

·      How do you judge the rightness and the wrongness of crime?

You responses are due by email on Friday, April 27th at midnight. Good luck and enjoy the movie watching!
