Today in 42.3 some of the girls and guys talked about what happened during their teaching practice. I asked if any of them ever had crushes on their old teachers. They shook their heads no. I doubt it. I like the third definition of a crush. This is from the Urban Dictionary online. A crush isn't a bad thing. A crush gets you through ridiculous winters... :)
See ya later!

Real English lessons start today. I will be in the English office before the fourth lesson if you need to talk to me or ask any questions. See you soon!

Woohoo! I posted ALL SIX of the syllabi for this semester. Go to the semester two tab and print out your group's syllabus. Your assignments, etc. are all a part of your syllabus.

See you soon!

You are all going to give an oral presentation at one point during this semester. You will sign up for a date and topic during your first lesson this week. I'm posting the details and topics now so you can see what is expected and hopefully you will have an idea of what you might want to present by sign-up time.

Have a great rest of your Sunday.

Hey guys! When I've told some people that I'm not teaching their specific group for semester two, many people are surprised and have been asking why. Like I wrote before, there are many factors I took into account when I requested the specific groups. I was also asked to cover certain classes by the head of our department. As for the factors, here are the stats from semester one by group.

Group 42.1

Average Percentage = 63.0% = E

Lowest Grade = 36% = Fx

Highest Grade = 88% = B

Mode Grade = Fx

#As = 0

#Bs = 2

Group 42.2

Average Percentage = 76.2% = C

Lowest Grade = 34% = F

Highest Grade = 98% = A

Mode Grade = A

#As = 3

#Bs = 2

Group 42.3

Average Percentage = 79.1% = C

Lowest Grade = 50% = Fx

Highest Grade = 98% = A

Mode Grade = C

#As = 3

#Bs = 2

Group 43.1

Average Percentage = 65.6% = D

Lowest Grade = 2% = F-

Highest Grade = 94% = A

Mode Grade = C

#As = 1

#Bs = 1

Group 44.1

Average Percentage = 61.2% = E

Lowest Grade = 6% = F-

Highest Grade = 88% = B

Mode Grade = C

#As = 0

#Bs = 1

The groups I asked to work with had the most As and Bas and also had higher percentages for their grades over the semester. If this doesn't make sense to you, please find me and talk to me. I have all of the records from the first semester.

I really hope that you all benefit greatly from your English lessons this semester. If you want to speak with me or play fun English games (my sister gave me some for Christmas)

President Obama gave his State of the Union address last night. Here is the transcript:

Lectures have started and we have one week until we start practical English classes. I wanted to let you all know that I won't be teaching all of the same classes or groups that I taught first semester. This decision came about because of both the analysis I did of first semester grades, attendance, and student enthusiasm as well as the department head's needs due to scheduling changes with Euro 2012.

I enjoyed working with all groups during the first semester and really hope that all students will take time to chat with me and join English club when they have free time.

As of right now, I am still waiting for my schedule, but I was told that I will most likely be teaching the following groups for semester two.

33.1 - one lesson/week
33.2 - one lesson/week
42.2 - two lessons/week
42.3 - two lessons/week
43.1 - two lessons/week
44.2 - one lesson/week

I look forward to this semester and really hope that all interested students will take time out of their schedules to join English club and/or communicate with me while I am still at TNPU.

Thanks.

There are only a few more weeks until semester two starts. Make sure you enjoy your vacation so that you're ready to get to work when we start our classes together. It's going to be a short semester because of Euro 2012 so be ready to get a lot done and be ready to do extra studying on your own. Please consider going to English clubs to get extra practice.

See you soon!
