Hey guys! Next week, we will be watching a movie and doing activities related to the movie during your two class periods. Here is the list of movies that you can choose between for our lesson next week. We'll take a vote this week.
Movie Choices for the Week of November 7th through 11th

Summaries taken from imdb.com.

WPSLTM (Why Professor Sharece Likes This Movie): A short explanation of why I chose this movie as one of your five choices.

Almost Famous:

A high-school boy is given the chance to write a story for Rolling Stone Magazine about an up-and-coming rock band as he accompanies it on their concert tour.

WPSLTM: The music in the movie is awesome. I love classic rock. There are many funny lines throughout the movie.

Chicken Run:

Chicken Run is a comedy escape drama with a touch of passion set on a sinister Yorks chicken farm in 1950's England.

WPSLTM: A movie about chickens… why wouldn’t I love this movie? When I was a student, I tried to become a vegetarian after watching this movie.

Easy A:

A clean-cut high school student relies on the school's rumor mill to advance her social and financial standing.

WPSLTM: The cool teacher in the movie teaches English literature. This is what I want to do when I return to the US. Emma Stone is an awesome actress.

Goonies:

A group of kids embark on a wild adventure after finding a pirate treasure map.

WPSLTM: This movie is filmed in OREGON!!! I was two years old when this movie first came out, but it is still a classic.

Pretty in Pink:

A poor girl must choose between the affections of her doting childhood sweetheart and a rich but sensitive playboy.

WPSLTM: John Hughes films are essential to the millennial generation in the US. We grew up watching these movies on VHS with our friends on Friday nights. Eighties films are a big part of American culture.

Thank you group 43.1 & 43.2 for the FABULOUS "Horror Room" in Room 80 today. It was so much fun. My friends Amanda and Vitaliy were really impressed with the decorations. I'm so glad you guys got into bobbing for apples. This is one of the BEST traditions we grow up with at Halloween parties in the states.

Tomorrow at 3:15, Amanda is throwing a Halloween party for her students. I would LOVE it if you guys planned on coming. This means that the English Club will not be at TNPU this week, but will be at School Number 1 in the center of Ternopil. Come hang out and take the opportunity to talk to more English speakers (both Amanda and Vitaliy will be there) and help out some kids.

Here are a few of my favorite photos from today. I'll try to post more to the pictures page on this site later this week.

Happy Halloween!!!!

Hey guys! I hope you've been having a great weekend. One of you shared this link with me and I thought I'd share it with all of you. It's a website for teaching ESL. It might help you guys get ideas for games to play with your students or things you would like to plan to do with the English Club if you ever join. :)

Also, tomorrow is Halloween. Please join the fun at 11 in room 80. If you have any apples, please bring them.

You all wanted to ask how much kindles cost and how they work. Here's what the new generation looks like. You can always look at http://www.amazon.com/ to see more about it.

Hi guys! I hope you're having a great start to your weekend. We only have a few more weeks of class left before you head out to do your student teaching. Please show up to class. You all signed the agreement at the beginning of the semester. I know that some of you have been legitimately sick, but those of you who are skipping class to sleep are not exhibiting very good characteristics. If you were asking me to recommend you for a job, I wouldn't do it. Let's aim higher.

All of your assignments will be due by next Friday. No assignments will be accepted after that date. If you have any questions or concerns about your points or grade, please see me individually and we can discuss the possibilities.

Hey guys!

Someone asked me for some help to find some online news articles about ebooks to read. I suggest using google and narrowing your search to news articles.

Here's an article about ebooks in libraries:

Here's one about publishing and blurb:

This may or may not be interesting:

Here's another idea:

I suggest that you find your own articles, but in case you are stuck, you may use one of the above. Know that you are supposed to be giving a presentation on the articles so you need to be well versed in what they say and your opinions regarding t

I have some students who are concerned about turning papers in by email. As you know, you only have to turn in four assignments by email this unit. If you would like to turn in paper copies rather than digital copies, you MUST TURN THEM IN BY HAND BEFORE THE DUE DATE. That means if your paper is due on Monday by 9 PM, you must turn it into me by Friday by 12:45. After 12:45, I am no longer at the university. Please let me know if you have any questions. I am happy to accept paper copies, but turning in paper copies requires quicker speed on your part.

Thanks.

This is your new blog post. Click here and start typing, or drag in elements from the top bar.

Thanks for coming to the writing workshop (those that came). I hope that you got something out of it. The teachers who attended said they enjoyed it.

Some of you have assignments due later this week. Please see your sub-group's due dates. Do your work as you like, but I WILL NOT BE ACCEPTING ANY LATE WORK for unit two. There are no excuses for late work. If you manage your time wisely, even a bad internet connection won't stop you.

Good luck to all of you.

Also, the Halloween party is coming up. It's going to be on MONDAY, October 31st. I would like help from students. If you have any ideas or would like to do something special, please contact me ASAP. I don't have any lessons that day and am working with other teachers in the English office to make it great. Please join in. It will be more fun if YOU guys help out as well.

This fall semester is going by so quickly. Before you know it, you'll all be working in schools. I hope you've all had a chance to check out your assignments and deadlines for unit two. All of that information is here on the site. :)

The ONLY writing workshop we're having this fall is tomorrow at 12:45 (the fourth class period). I hope that some of you will be able to make it. I think it should be good. I'm excited about it.

Have a great week, you guys.
